    About the opportunity: Our client, an engineering, design, consulting and construction firm, is seeking an Energy Services Sales exec for their Washington DC metro office. Over 100 years in business, this mechanical contractor has over $350 million revenues with operations in 11 states. This respected firm is consistently ranked among the nation’s largest in Engineering News Record’s (ENR's) annual list of Top Specialty Contractors. The Energy Solutions team provides professional engineering services which economically reduce energy consumption, including energy engineering, design, and support of energy retrofits.

    About the position: This Energy Services Sales Exec is a newly created position in response to the sustained -- and growing demand -- for our client's proven methodologies for maximizing energy resources and minimizing wasted energy. You will leverage the technical support resources of in-house expertise to assist with proposals, energy payback calculations and construction / installation estimates. Dedicated project managers will be assigned to deliver the services you sell. You will also have support from the design side: we have outstanding mechanical design engineers and PEs on staff.

    Ground Floor Hire, new Profit Center: Successful candidate will be the first dedicated sales exec and will have the opportunity to hire a team as the business line grows. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build out a dedicated profit center in the Baltimore Washington metro area, and to benefit from best practices developed rolling out this program in other regions. This is a highly consultative, client facing role, i.e. a strong technical background is a plus, but not required. You are not expected to manage the projects you sell, because you can rely on the bench strength and experience of our team of engineers to perform the full range of energy engineering services e.g. conducting building energy audits, payback calculations and designing / supporting appropriate energy retrofits. You can stay as involved as you need to ensure that you maintain your strong client relationships.

    Target Profile: Where is the successful candidate likely to have gained his or her relevant experience? Most likely you will have sold energy services for Energy Services Companies (ESCOs) e.g. Allegheny Energy, Ameresco, Chesapeake Utilities, Constellation Energy, Dominion Resources, Healthy Buildings, Noresco, Pepco Holdings, Sempra Energy Solutions, etc.)

    Is this role a fit for you?:

    • if you have a proven track record of accomplishment in B2B energy services field in the Baltimore Washington metro area, this is YOUR opportunity to build out and grow a dedicated sales team.
    • Successful candidate must currently be (or recently have been) selling similar energy services to commercial, institutional or public sector clients in the DC metro area.
    • A warm rolodex of established client accounts is key to success in this role.
    • Preferred: candidates who have gained their relevant experience selling energy services 1) for an ESCO and/or 2) with a focus on commercial clients

Where this energy services offering has already been rolled out, the revenues and profits have come to represent a significant percent of the company's business.

    Actual Salary will depend on 1) your relevant experience, 2) current / most recent compensation history, and 3) performance once on board.
