Woody Allen is credited with saying, "I'm not afraid to die, I just
don't want to be there when it happens." Many people feel the same
way about going on an interview - they would rather not be there when
it happens.
From one of our members, here are some questions that can help make
the interview experience a little more productive and possibly a little
less painful. More importantly, help gain critical information to let
you know if the opportunity is right for you.
- Is this a newly created position?
- How often has this position been filled in the past six or seven months?
- What were the predecessor's strengths and key contributions?
- What are the key responsibilities of the position?
- How would you describe the ideal candidate for this position?
- What are the greatest challenges facing this position?
- How much autonomy will this position have?
- What is the budget and support staff for this position?
- What are the short-term and long-term goals?
- How will the successful candidate's performance be evaluated?
- What is the career progression from this position?
- Are there potential mine-fields facing this position?
