Woody Allen is credited with saying, "I'm not afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens." Many people feel the same way about going on an interview - they would rather not be there when it happens. From one of our members, here are some questions that can help make the interview experience a little more productive and possibly a little less painful. More importantly, help gain critical information to let you know if the opportunity is right for you.

  1. Is this a newly created position?
  2. How often has this position been filled in the past six or seven months?
  3. What were the predecessor's strengths and key contributions?
  4. What are the key responsibilities of the position?
  5. How would you describe the ideal candidate for this position?
  6. What are the greatest challenges facing this position?
  7. How much autonomy will this position have?
  8. What is the budget and support staff for this position?
  9. What are the short-term and long-term goals?
  10. How will the successful candidate's performance be evaluated?
  11. What is the career progression from this position?
  12. Are there potential mine-fields facing this position?
