    About the Opportunity: Thanks to sustained profitable sales, we have an urgent opening for a BSME with 2-7 years experience selling commercial mechanical HVAC equipment. Previous sales engineer relocated with spouse, creating this immediate opening. The successful candidate will inherit a prime territory: an established group of valued clients, who simply need to be serviced. As the authorized manufacturer's representative for some of the leading product manufacturers in the mission critical data center space, we are seeking a customer-oriented sales engineer to focus exclusively on serving many of our most loyal clients in the Northern VA region -- some of whom have relied on the quality of our mechanical products and related maintenance and support services for over 15 years.

    Why the DC Metro area? While many sectors of the economy have been hit hard by the financial industry woes, there are many commercial clients in the DC area with mission critical data centers and similarly HVAC-dependent environments -- who, directly or indirectly -- serve government agencies, hence the urgent need to backfill this position. (In spite of the economic downturn, the federal government's need for mission critical products and services has not decreased, only increased.)

    About the Position: We're looking for a sales engineer with a passion for consultative, solution selling. You have at least two experience representing mechanically oriented HVAC products for the mission critical infrastructure needs of commercial firms. You will partner with the Senior VP of Sales to service this demanding, but very rewarding account base of valued clients.

    Requirements: The successful candidate will have the have the following qualifications and experience:

    • Two to Seven years of prior Mechanical / HVAC products sales experience required; experience selling into the Mission Critical Data Center space strongly preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering -- or equivalent experience – e.g. a strong mechanical aptitude; BSME strongly preferred

    Additional Qualifications: In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of experience performing the following responsibilities:

    • Calling on established and prospective accounts as a distributor or manufacturer’s rep selling some or all of the following systems: High Density Cooling Solutions, Precision Cooling Systems, Water Detection Systems, Heat Pumps, Computer Room Air Handlers and Conditioners (CRAHs and CRACs), Humidification and DeHumidifier systems, etc.
    • Prospecting for new accounts among high-potential mechanical contractors, engineering firms and end-users
    • Specific experience working with consulting specifying engineers and end users to identify, configure and propose the best solutions for the customer, including preparing proposals, bids, submittals, presentations and briefings

    Target Compensation includes a competitive base salary (depending on relevant experience and recent salary history), uncapped commissions with OTE of $250K, and excellent benefits package (including 401K match, tuition reimbursement and paid time off for community service). Actual compensation package will be tailored to the successful candidate, based on relevant experience, recent salary history and actual on the job performance.

    Target Profile: Successful candidate is likely to have gained relevant experience selling commercial mechanical HVAC products for leading Commercial HVAC/R manufacturers and their reps, e.g.Advanced Thermal Solutions, AboveAir, AirTight, APC / MGE, Carrier Mid-Atlantic, Critical Systems, Data Aire, Desert-Aire, DMR, Emcor, Emerson / Liebert, HavTec, Johnson Controls / York International, Lee Technologies, Trane (Ward /Boland), and similar companies. BSMEs graduating from the following engineering schools do well in this environment: GWU, U of VA, VA Tech, North Carolina State, Carnegie Mellon, Penn State, U of Maryland (including UMBC), U of Pennsylvania, Clemson, Drexel, GA Tech, Michigan State, Ohio State, Lehigh, U of Georgia, Howard, Old Dominion, etc.
